The National Stadium is located in the south of the central area of Beijing Olympic Park, the main building being the "bird's nest" and the main stadium for the 2008 Olympic games. The total area covers 21 hectares with a construction area of 258 000 square meters. The audience seating capacity is for 91 000 guests, including 11 000 temporary seats. The Olympic Games, Paralympic Games opening and closing ceremonies, athletics and football finals were held at the stadium.
National Aquatic Center
The National Swimming Center (commonly known as the "Water Cube") is located in Beijing’s Olympic Park, was constructed for the 2008 Olympic Summer Games as the main swimming pool and has since become one of the landmark buildings in Beijing.
